Something went wrong
One moment..
Explosion safety is non-negotiable when designing or operating dry bulk solids systems. That’s why the National Fire Protection Association created NFPA 69, a strict set of requirements to prevent and control explosions in enclosures where flammable materials are present.
Many rotary valves on the market meet compliance through prescriptive requirements, forcing engineers and integrators to compromise on design and performance. At DMN-WESTINGHOUSE, we take a different approach. Since 1981, our rotary valves have been subjected to the most extensive explosion testing in the industry. We’ve conducted hundreds of real-world explosion tests, allowing us to certify rotary valves through a performance-based methodology. The result is both NFPA 69-compliant and ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU certification, with greater flexibility that goes beyond traditional U.S. specifications.
With 75+ years of expertise and 7,000 rotary valves manufactured annually, we are deeply familiar with the challenges and needs of dry bulk solids handling industries.
Our rotary valves are engineered to deliver certified explosion protection without compromising on design freedom or system performance. This makes them a powerful asset not just for system integrators and OEMs, but also for end users across operations, engineering, safety, and maintenance.
Whether you're designing a new system or optimizing an existing one, our rotary valves offer added value by improving safety, simplifying integration, and reducing long-term wear and maintenance:
Blades in metal or polyurethane, can be fitted with scraper, chamfered, or additional knifes.
Bearings configured inboard or outboard, depending on sealing and process needs.
Use for organic dusts (St 1, 2 & 3)
Kst-Values up to 380 bar x m/s
P-max values up to 10 bar
Rotating speed of the rotors up to 30 rpm
Certification – based on explosion testing, validated by notified bodies, and compliant with both NFPA 69 and ATEX 2014/34/EU
These features allow broader application, smoother integration, and better long-term performance without sacrificing certified explosion safety.
Unlike most manufacturers, we don’t rely on assumptions. Our rotary valves are tested for blocking flame passage and explosions under various configurations and conditions to confirm that a system is genuinely safe during an explosion. Our testing program is verified by notified bodies and designed to reflect real-world conditions and use cases.
